Preparing for the future is a really, really GOOD THING!
College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Counselor Latrica Sutton and the members of the senior class have been working hard to prepare for life after graduation.
The 142 seniors of Jasper High School have submitted a total of 289 applications for colleges and universities this school year in the ApplyTexas (200) and CommonApp (89) application platforms for the Fall 2026 admission window. This still does not account for some applications as some out of state schools allow applications through their own websites and are not captured in ApplyTexas or CommonApp.
Also,
22% of the Senior class (that's 31 students!!!) have already completed both the student
and parent portions of FAFSA to help fund their college educations for the 2026-2027 school year. This a great start toward securing scholarships -- which require FAFSA completion by the Texas priority deadline of Jan 15th, 2026 -- (
https://studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa/fafsa-deadlines). Many more seniors have completed the student portion and are awaiting completion of the parent portion by their parents. A donor has offered a device (right now, they are shopping for a Chromebook) for our office to give away as a prize in a drawing. To be entered in this drawing, the senior needs to be FAFSA complete for both the student and the parent sections by that Jan 15th Texas priority deadline.
