AVID Tutors

AVID classrooms utilize college students as tutors on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. Tutors work with small groups of students (5-7) to address the students' points of confusion in regard to notes, homework, or tests. The tutorial process is Socratic in nature.  

Under the supervision of the AVID Teacher, tutors will:

*conduct tutorial sessions in subject areas such as mathematics, science, social studies, writing skills and study skills
*participate in aspects of student preparation for college
*set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students to follow
*participate in AVID tutor training
*participate in activities that support the AVID program and philosophy
